European stock markets jump at open

LONDON: Europe's main stock markets rose strongly at the start of trading on Monday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index up 1.70 percent at 6,234.37 points compared with Friday's close.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 gained 1.45 percent to 9,691.65 points and the Paris CAC 40 won 1.89 percent to 4,543.07.
