European stocks shoot higher at opening bell

PARIS: European stocks shot higher in opening trading on Thursday, benefitting from a Wall Street rally and volatile Chinese markets being closed for a long weekend.

London's FTSE 100 index of leading shares jumped 1.17 to 6,154.12 points, while Paris's CAC 40 index climbed 1.03 percent to 4,601.75 and in Frankfurt the DAX 30 advanced 1.13 percent to 10,161.36.
