Govt to eliminate bonded labour: Minister
Talking to a delegation of industrial workers here, he said the government was giving top priority to eliminate menace of bonded labour from the brick kilns.
He said veterinary staff visited 154 brick kilns and provided treatment to 448 animals of brick kiln labourers, adding, the department organized health camps at brick kilns and free treatment was provided to 1300 labourers.
Free education including books, stationery, transport and uniform were also being provided to 28,000 children of workers in 46 workers welfare schools of the province, he informed.
The minister said the government had increased marriage and death grant whereas, the amount of scholarship for children of labourers had also been increased.
New labour colonies would also be constructed in the province for provision of better residential facilities to labourers just to upgrade the socio-economic status of the labour community, he said.
