PM condoles demise of former Turkish President Suleyman Demirel

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday expressed deep condolences on the death of Turkey's former President Suleyman Demirel, on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan.

In his separate messages to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, he expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death the former Turkish President, said a PM House statement.

Nawaz Sharif said that President Suleyman held an iconic stature in the political history of Turkey and his legacy in strengthening Pakistan-Turkey relations would always be remembered.

In his condolence letters, the Prime Minister said in this hour of grief and national mourning, the people of Pakistan stood shoulder to shoulder in solidarity and brotherhood with their Turkish brethren.

He also prayed to Allah Almighty to grant the departed soul His blessings and mercy.
