European stocks close lower

PARIS: Europe's main markets closed lower on Wednesday, with the CAC 40 in Paris down 1.02 percent to 4,790.62 points and Frankfurt's DAX 30 shedding 0.60 percent to 10,978.01 points.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of top companies ended the day 0.44 percent lower at 6,680.55 points.
