Indian stocks drop 2.13pc on opening

The benchmark 30-share Sensex on the Bombay Stock Exchange lost 351.37 points or 2.13 percent to 16,118.42, a 15-month-low, within minutes of opening.

Software exporters with large exposure to the US market, telecoms and retail stocks were worst hit, as traders fretted over disappointing US economic data and renewed fears for the future of Europe's banks.
