European stocks advance at open

LONDON: European stock markets rose at the start of trading on Tuesday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index up 0.24 percent at 6,985.27 points.

Elsewhere, the CAC 40 in Paris gained 0.56 percent to 5,040.45 points and Frankfurt's DAX 30 won 0.99 percent to 11,709.87 compared with Monday's close.
