ECP asked to take notice of barring women voters in PK-95 by-polls

ISLAMABAD: The spokesperson of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Dr. Shireen Mazari on Thursday urged Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice of PK- 95 by-election where women voters were barred from constitutional right of casting votes.

In a statement, she said ECP must take immediate action in Lower Dir and order re-polling where women have been denied their right to vote.

She said PTI has always opposed denying women their right to vote and the party condemns this denial taking place in Lower Dir bye election PK-95,

The PK-95 seat had been vacant after election of Sirajul Haq as senator. More than 140,000 voters have been registered while 85 polling stations established in the region.

On the occasion, the district administration has announced a public holiday in the district.
