Turkish lira hits record low of 2.6 against dollar

ISTANBUL: The Turkish lira weakened to a fresh record low of 2.6 against the dollar on Thursday as concerns about President Tayyip Erdogan's battle with the central bank and the future of the government's economic team undermined sentiment.

After touching an all-time low of 2.6002, the lira edged back to 2.5972 against the US currency by 1120 GMT, bringing its losses so far this year to more than 10 percent.
