SNGPL starts drive against use of illegal gas compressors

ISLAMABAD: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has launched a drive against consumers using illegal gas compressors in various localities of Islamabad Region.

General Manager SNGPL Islamabad Region, Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry told APP here on Thursday that the use of compressors was illegal, adding that the authority would take action against the violators.

He said that SNGPL has received a number of complaints about installation of compressors in houses in different vicinities which was creating shortage of gas for domestic consumers.

He warned the gas consumers to avoid using compressors otherwise their gas connections would be disconnected.

He said that SNGPL has also constituted teams to conduct surprise raids in different localities Islamabad region to remove gas connection in case of violations.

He said that some people were using compressors to increase gas pressure in their houses and creating problems for their neighbours, which is not only illegal but also disturbing their supply.

He said consumers could lodge complaints against the illegal use of compressors at SNGPL customer service centre round the clock.

Similarly campaign has already been launched in Rawalpindi region and so far the gas connection of 45 domestic consumers have been disconnected.
