Addressing a press conference at Railways Headquarters, he said the administration had to take some difficult decisions to ensure the timely arrival and departure of the trains.

Apologizing to people for prolonged delay in departure and arrival of trains, he expressed his hope that situation would improve soon.

He said the federal government had already approved a relief package for the department which would facilitate repair and renovation of 100 old locomotives, 500 passenger coaches, 650 freight wagons and 50 power vans.

He said that margin for the purchase of oil from PSO on credit had been enhanced from Rs1 billion to Rs2 billion.

The acting GM said that emergency had already been enforced in railways and all purchases would be made directly from companies on a single tender.
