Wassan asks Ulema to foster unity among masses
In a meeting with Jamiat e Ulema e Islam (JUI), Karachi's chief, Qari Mohammad Usman in his office on Saturday, the minister said madaris and mosques could be utilized as platforms to promote tolerance and unanimity among people.
Wassan said he was committed to the cause of peace in the province and at its capital and has therefore developed a coordination with all provincial and religious parties.
He asked for a proactive role by religious scholars for the cause of public safety.
Qari Mohammad Usman told Wassan that an Ulema Peace Council has been constituted, comprising religious scholars from all schools of thought.
The council would be particularly focussed to help maintenance of peace in Karachi.
He assured the minister of all support to the government efforts and appreciated Wassan's efforts towards the cause.
