US municipal bond yields up sharply

NEW YORK: Benchmark US municipal bond prices fell on Friday, lifting yields as much as 7 basis points after a report showed that the US job market grew solidly in January and wages rebounded strongly.

Yields on AAA-rated muni bonds in the 2023-2025 maturity rose 5-7 basis points, according to a preliminary scale read from Municipal Market Data (MMD), a unit of Thomson Reuters.
