Azealia Banks, who is African-American, has repeatedly accused Iggy of copying black rappers and hip hop stars to make herself famous. Now some anonymous hackers are taking Bank’s side and asking for apology from the Australian rapper.
According to foreign media reports, one of the threatening tweet said, “We have so much shit on you, your scandal would be bigger than Bill Cosby’s. You are guilty of misappropriating black culture, insulting peaceful protesters, and making light of Eric Garner’s death”.
Another tweet said, “You have exactly 48 hours from now to release a statement apologizing to Azealia Banks and the protesters in NYC. If you do not do so, the memory of you will burn from the public faster than the moment you surfaced. We’re not kidding”.
However, the Australian rapper isn’t much bothered by any of the tweets and said, “I find it patronizing to assume I have no knowledge of something I’m influenced by, but I've also grown up with strangers assuming that. So it’s completely fine and I'm used to it by now. I don’t lose any sleep over it”.
“How you feel about me blending musical genres together doesn't bother me, no one is making you support or buy pop rap albums. It’s entirely up to you what you support and are interested in. Now, if you guys don’t mind I’m on my Christmas break enjoying it with people I actually KNOW.... in REAL life,” she added.
