British Govt to continue assistance in rehabilitation of Swat: Adman Thomson

He said that the British government was assisting the Pakistani government in several projects with a view to promote education in Swat, where most of the schools and colleges have been blown out or washed away by floods.

The British envoy expressed these views while inaugurating Akhund Baba Shagai Link bridge here at Saidu Sharif on Saturday. Head of DFID, George Kiston and Brig. Naeem of Pak Army were also present on the occasion.

Elaborating on his views, British envoy said that UK government was providing assistance to the Pakistani government in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure in Swat, adding that the assistance would continue in the future.

He said that UK government has been part of consistent efforts to promote education in the area that has suffered immensely on various fronts due to insurgency.

The British envoy appreciated the efforts of the Pak Army for purging the area of militancy and restoring peace in it.

Earlier, the British High Commissioner formally inaugurated the newly constructed Akhund Baba Shagai Link Bridge.
