Anjum Aqeel sent on 12 days judicial remand

Police requested the court for 10 days' remand of the accused in National Police Foundation land case.

While court ent PML-N member National Assembly Anjum Aqeel on twelve days judicial remand.

Earlier, Police requested for 7-day physical remand. The court rejected the police request and ordered to send him jail.

Police had registered a case against PML-N MNA Anjum Akeel Khan under 12 different sections including Terrorism Act and arrested him on Saturday.

PML-N's MNA is accused of involvement in the Rs6 billion National Police Foundation land scam; hence, he was arrested on Friday. However, he was forcibly allegedly released by some armed men.

Media was kept away during the hearing; however Aqeel got an undersized chance to talk to media where he said that he had not been arrested by the police but he surrendered himself.

He was produced in the court the MNA claimed he was being victimised due to his political affiliations. He said the people forcefully taken him from the Shalimar Police Station without his consent.

A large number of Muslim League (Nawaz) workers were present outside the court.

Earlier, Anjum was admitted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, following complains of heart problem. Dr Muhammad Shafiq and Dr Awais Nizami did his check up and decided to do his angiography and other tests. However, police said Anjum Aqeel was in good shape.

According to one of Aqeel's supporter, Khan's one cardiac valve is blocked and doctors recommended him staying in the hospital. But the police moved Anjum back without doctors' consultation.

After detention, Anjum Aqeel informed the police that he was a heart patient after which accused in National Police Foundation fraud case was taken to PIMS hospital.
