US assures Pakistan of continued civilian assistance

ISLAMABAD : The United States has assured of continued civilian assistance to Pakistan and help in energy sector project

The Finance Minister apprised the Prime Minister about the communication made to him by the US Deputy Secretary of State Thomas R. Nides.

He said the US has also assured willingness to undertake major projects in the energy sector including the Diamer Basha Dam and preparation of a programme to reflect priorities set by the Government of Pakistan.

The Minister also briefed the Prime Minister about his discussion on the Coalition Support Fund (CSF) which is the reimbursement of expenditure incurred by the government in the war against terror.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the future plans explained by the Finance Minister for the development projects and other macroeconomic variables.

The Prime Minister asked the Minister to accelerate work on development agenda of the government in view of the enhanced availability of funds in the current fiscal year.

Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh also informed the Prime Minister about the current fiscal developments after the successful passage of the budget.
