First consignment of Pakistani mangoes to be sent on July 27

ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company (PHDEC) with the support of Ministry of Commerce has

"The first consignment will be sent on July 27, 2011 while previously, last year PHDEC had made the arrangements to send the mangoes shipment to USA, but it could not be materialized", says a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce here today.

However, this year it has been fully ensured that there are no hurdles.

Pakistan has been working for a long time to tap into to American market with its high quality mangoes.

For this purpose, Chaunsa variety of Ali Tareen Farms has been selected to be sent to USA and the first consignment will be of 1200 kg (approx).

The consignment will be sent in reefer containers to maintain temperature as advised by Supply Chain Experts.The Commercial Consulate in Chicago will receive the consignment and distribute it to other Pakistani Consulates for further disbursement.

Senior Minister for Commerce, Makhdoom Amin Faheem has termed this step as a turning point in agriculture exports from Pakistan and expressed his confidence that because of their high quality, Pakistani mangoes will become popular in the international markets very soon.

He also congratulated PHDEC on its efforts and also assured his full cooperation for further endeavors.
