Power shortfall reaches 5000 MW

The duration of loadshedding in Karachi has reached 15 hours. Currently, electricity demand in the country is 17904 megawatts while the electricity production has been reduced to 12995 megawatts, private news channel reported.

The hydral power generation capacity in the country is 6510 megawatts but the production is 5141 megawatts.

The power generation capacity of IPPs is 7000 megawatts while the production is 5800 megawatts.

Meanwhile, 1941 megawatts of electricity is produced from Gencos despite a generation capacity of 2500 megawatts.

Moreover, 710 megawatt electricity is also provided to KESC.
