China's yuan edges up on central bank guidance

HONG KONG: China's yuan edged up against the dollar on Wednesday after the central bank set a slightly stronger official guidance rate.

The People's Bank of China set the midpoint at 6.1462 per dollar, up 0.01 percent from the previous fix.

Spot yuan changed hands at 6.1361 near midday, up 0.03 percent from Monday's close at 6.1378.

The yuan traded at a narrow range between 6.1347 and 6.1373 in morning trade.
