WB funding several road projects, NHA chief informed
This was told to Chairman NHA, Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi, during a briefing on major NHA projects after taking up his new assignment.
The chairman stressed upon efficient use of the loan and timely completion of the projects.
He was informed that NHIP includes improvement and rehabilitation of deteriorated segments of N-5 from Karachi to Peshawar.
The project financing by World Bank is 74 percent and 26 percent by Government of Pakistan. Presently NHA has taken up 15 projects through NHIP, while work on 10 projects has been completed, 5 projects are still in progress.
Gardezi was told that rehabilitation of 86 km Moro-Ranipur section is in progress with a cost of Rs1143 million and will be completed by December 2011. The work on the project started in August 2005.
He was informed that 82 km Mian Chunon-Okara section was being completed with a cost of Rs1303 million and is expected to be completed by October 2011. The project work took off in August 2006.
