Talking to mediapersons after attending a meeting at Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), she said dialogue was the best way to resolve differences in democratic culture and the government will continue its efforts for reconciliation as deadlock was not in the interests of the country.
Replying to a question about Karachi situation, she said City of the Quaid was the economic and commercial hub and anyone trying to destabilize it, cannot be Pakistan's friend. She said that the persons involved in killing of innocent people, would be brought to justice.
To a question about US Admiral Mike Mullen's statement on Saleem Shahzad murder issue, she said the government's spokesman has already given a statement on the issue. Moreover, Foreign Office has given its stance on the matter as the issue falls in its domain, she added.
On a question about issuance of new licences to satellite TV channels, she said that digitalization was need of the hour to expand and improve the quality of cable network. She said presently about 80 TV channels were being covered by cables but after laying of optic fibre, they would be able to show over 250 channels.
Keeping in mind the present capacity of the cable network, the government has no plan to issue licences to new satellite channels till digitalization of the cable network, she said.
