The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 196.25 points to 22,726.43 on turnover of HK$63.82 billion ($8.20 billion).

Shanghai rose 0.13 percent, with the composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, up 3.51 points at 2,797.77 on turnover of 102.8 billion yuan ($15.9 billion).
