Kenya economy to grow 5.7pc in 2011/12

"A rebound in regional and global demand supports tourism, and a dynamic private sector has spurred investment and an acceleration of growth across all non agricultural sectors," the IMF said in a statement late on Thursday.

It said that the shilling's depreciation reflected strong domestic demand and high oil prices.

The shilling closed trade at 89.85/95 against the dollar on Thursday after hitting 90.00 earlier, weaker than Wednesday's close of 89.70/80.
