It is the second start-up this year for Eni in the US, strengthening its role as operator and its position as a producer in the Gulf of Mexico.

Production started on June 21 through a subsea development and a twenty-mile long flow line tied back to the Eni-operated Corral platform, the group said in a statement.

The well is currently flowing at a rate of about 7,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Eni's total daily net production in the United States is in excess of 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent.
