PM greets Obama on US independence day

The Prime Minister said, "On behalf of the government and the people of Pakistan, I would like to convey our warmest greetings to you and the American people as you celebrate the Independence Day of the United States of America."

He said Pakistan and the US - two great nations are bound by values of peace, freedom and democracy.

"Pakistan and the United States are committed to transform their relationship into a broad based and enduring partnership. We believe our two countries must continue to work together to make a meaningful contribution to regional security and international peace," he said.

Gilani said there is a need to consolidate ongoing efforts in areas of common interest and to expand cooperation in social sectors and economic development, as envisaged under Pakistan-US Strategic dialogue.

He wished the people of United States of America continued progress and advancement.
