Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Three ships C.V Asir, M.T Prosperity and M.T Oriental Oki carrying containers, palm oil and chemicals were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively at Port Qasim at on Tuesday, Port sources said here on Wednesday.

Another container ship 'CMA CGM Verdi' also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at the port at 57% on Tuesday where ten ships namely C.V Asir, C.V MSC Irea, M.V Ikan Panadan, M.V Vina lines Global, M.V Inlaco brave, M.T ECE Nurk, M.T Atlantic Glory, M.T Prosperity, M.T Oriental Oki and M.T Lahore occupied PQA berths to load/ offload containers, cement, rape seeds, soya bean seeds, chemicals, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operations were carried out efficiently during the last 24 hours where a cargo volume of 107,485 tonnes, comprising 79,923 tonnes imports and 27,562 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,270 containers (TEUS) (587 imports and 683 exports TEUs) were handled at the Port.

Four ships C.V Asir, M.V Vina Lines Global, M.T Atlantic Glory and M.T Lahore sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships M.T Oriental Oki and M.V Inlaco Brave are expected to sail the same day afternoon.

Six ships C.V Verdi, C.V Safemarine Ngami, C.V Maersk Columbus, M.V Ince Ilgaz, M.T Desh Prem and M.T Genuine Hercules carrying containers, rape seeds, furnace oil and chemicals are expected to take berth at QICT, FAP, EVTL and FOTCO respectively on Wednesday, while two more ships C.V APL Oman and C.V ER Denmark are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday.
