Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Three ships C.V MSC Itea, M.T Bunga Levendor and M.T Lahore carrying containers, chemicals and furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively at Port Qasim on Monday, Port sources said here on Tuesday.

Seven more ships carrying containers, VCM, phosphoric acid, palm oil and furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at sixty four percent on Monday where nine ships namely C.V MSC Itea, C.V LOS Angles, M.V Ikan Pandan, M.V Vina lines Global, M.V Inlaco Brave, M.T ECF Nurk, M.T Atlantic Glory, M.T Bunga Levendor and M.T Lahore occupied berths at PQA to load/ offload containers, cement, rape seeds, soya bean seeds, chemicals, phosphoric acid, palm oil and furnace oil respectively.

A cargo volume of 93,609 tonnes, comprising 67,429 tonnes imports and 26,180 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,279 containers (TEUs) (628 imports and 651 exports TEUs) were handled at the Port during the last 24 hours.

Chemicals carrier 'Bunga Levendor' salled out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships, container ship MSC Itea, edible oil carrier ECF Nurk and bulk cargo carrier Vina lines Global are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

Four ships C.V Asir, MC Incellgaz, M.T Prosperity and M.T Oriental Oki carrying containers, rape seeds, palm oil and chemicals are expected to take berths at QICT, FAP, LCT and EVTL respectively on Tuesday, while another container ship CMA CGM Moliere' is due to arrive at Port Qasim the same day and two more ships C.V Maersk Columbus and C.V CMA CGM Verdi are due to arrive on Wednesday, according to the Port sources.
