Power plant to be set up for Khairpur Special Economic Zone

SUKKUR: Commissioner Sukkur Muhammad Abbas Baloch has said that for provision of electricity to industries of Khairpur Special Economic Zone (KSEZ), a Power Plant of 500 KV and 5 Mega Watt will be installed so that the investors may not face any difficulties.

Presiding over a meeting related to 14th steering committee of KSEZ at his office here on Monday, the Commissioner said that the Power Plant at the Zone will be installed with the joint cooperation of SEPCO and the Economic Zone.

He said that electricity will be provided on one window operation basis. 5 Mega watt electricity will be produced within 6 months from the power plant of KSEZ, he added.

He said besides this 500 KV, another Grid Station of 20-26 KV will also be installed within next three years. For this purpose, funds will be provided by Sindh Government, he added.

On the occasion, Chief Executive NIP Syed Mohsin told the meeting that investors throughout the country will be invited in a seminar at Karachi to promote the investment at Khairpur Special Economic Zone.

Chairman Allottment Committee SKEZ Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui said that the SKEZ consists of an of 140 acres of land.

He said that there are 90 plots including 85 industrial and 05 commercial. 19 companies short listed out of 46 companies have submitted their applications in this regard, and 04 companies have been issued allotment orders by Sindh Chief Minister.
