A concerned official sharing details of the camapign on Wednesday said the commissioner who has initiated the crackdown against profiteers, adulterators and those tampering with the weighing scale since long had on Tuesday imposed a fine of more than Rs.400,000 on those selling essential food items including flour, fruit, vegetable, meat, chicken and so forth at exorbitant rates.
Those fined included 57 milk sellers, 14 grocers, 27 chicken sellers, 57 green grocers, 39 fruit sellers and four flour millers.
