ISTANBUL: The Turkish lira weakened to 2.15 against the dollar on Tuesday, its weakest in 1-1/2 months, coming under pressure as the U.S. currency gained after higher-than-expected inflation data.

The Turkish currency, which weakened from 2.1435 late on Monday, has suffered several days of losses due to the violence in neighbouring Iraq where 80 Turks have been held captive for a week.
