Power shortfall surges to 3,500 MW

ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall in the country again surged to 3,500 MW as the total generation on Monday was recorded as 13,700 MW against the demand of 17,200 MW.

According to daily data released by National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) the hydel generation stood at 5,010 MW, Wapda Thermal 1,910 MW, Wind 50 MW and Independent power producers (IPPs) 6,780 MW.

The hydel generation has significantly increased owing to more water discharge from both the reservoirs Tarbela and Mangla dams and stood at 5,010 MW.
