58 shopkeepers fined, two arrested for profiteering

KARACHI: The divisional and district administration Karachi has challaned 58 shopkeepers and fine of Rs 1,14,000 were imposed while two shopkeepers were arrested for continuous profiteering and violating officially approved price list.

According to a statement issued here on Monday, the action against profiteers were taken in different areas including Shah Faisal, Bin Qasim, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Liaqat Abad, Gulshan Iqbal, New Karachi, Landhi, Jamshed Quarters, Civil Line, Saddar, Korangi, Orangi, Gulzar Hijri and Aram Bagh.

During crackdown, the administration fined 40 milk sellers, two fruit sellers, one vegetable seller, one food items grocer and 14 chicken sellers.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that the crackdown against profiteers will continue till its logical end.
