ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall in the country on Monday surged to 2,100 MW as the total generation was recorded as 11,700 MW against the demand of 13,800 MW at 11:30 hours.

According to daily data released by the National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC), the hydel generation stood at 4,160 MW, thermal 1,700 MW and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) 5,840 MW.

The hydel generation has increased owing to more water discharge from Tarbela and Mangla dams.

Meanwhile, power distribution companies have resorted to 4-6 hour load-shedding in their respective areas.
