LAHORE: Drivers of buses, trucks, taxi and rickshaws etc using substandard CNG cylinders will face strict action.

The government will not tolerate violation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority's directions and plying vehicles without having due fitness certificates, an official of the Punjab Transport department told APP here on Sunday.

He said the secretary Transport Punjab had issued directions to regional and district officers of the department to take steps in this regard.

Transport officers of the province, the secretary RTA and other staff concerned have been given a task of launching a special campaign against owners of the vehicles who did not obtain fitness certificates and route permits.

He said the government would not tolerate negligence, specially in the summer season, which could have more chances of fatal accidents.

Drivers and owners of vehicles have been advised to keep their vehicles in a good working condition according to the Motor Vehicles Rules and keep vehicles inside their premises until they succeed in getting fitness certificates.

Action was also being taken against vehicles plying without route permits in the province, he added.
