94 shopkeepers fined for profiteering

KARACHI: The divisional and district administration has challaned 94 shopkeepers and fine of Rs 2,56,000 were imposed for profiteering and violation officially approved price list.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that city administration has focused those areas from where the complaints of price hike were received. Action against profiteers were taken in Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Ibrahim Haidri, Bin Qasim, New Karachi, North Nazim Abad, Gulberg, Liaqat Abad, Site, Orangi, Gulshan Iqbal, Jamshed Quarter, Feroz Abad ,Garden, Saddar, and Civil line.

According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, during crack down against profiteers 61 milk sellers, one vegetables sellers, 16 essential items grocers and 14 chicken sellers were fined.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the campaign launched against profiteers would continue till its logical end.

He has also directed the officials to ensure that prices of commodities are displayed and to take stern actions against those involved in profiteering.
