87 shopkeepers fined, five arrested for profiteering

KARACHI: The divisional and district administration Karachi has challaned 87 shopkeepers and fine of Rs. 1,96,000 were imposed while five were arrested for continuous profiteering and violating officially approved price list.

According to a statement issued here on Thursday, the action against profiteers were taken in different areas including Shah Faisal, Murad Memon Goth, Bin Qasim, North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Liaquat Abad, Gulshan Iqbal, Feroz Abad, Civil Line, Saddar and Aram Bagh.

During crackdown the administration fined 40 milk sellers, one fruit seller, four vegetables sellers, 19 food items grocers, one meat vendor, 13 chicken sellers and nine flour sellers.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the crackdown against profiteers will continue till its logical end.
