Power shortfall surges to 3,500 MW

ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall in the country on Wednesday again surged to 3,500 MW as the total generation was recorded as 10,600 MW against the demand of 14,100 MW at 0:900 hours.

According to daily data released by National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC),the hydel generation stood at 2,600 MW, Thermal 1,320 MW and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) 6,680 MW.

Meanwhile, the Indus River System Authority has also reduced water discharge from both water reservoirs Tarbela and Mangla dams resulting decrease hydel generation.
