Deputy Chairman Senate forms body to look into Sindh, Balochistan incidents
Giving his ruling on creating situation after killing of a person in Karachi and foreigners in Kharot Abad, the deputy chairman senate directed the leader of the House and leader of opposition in the senate to start work on terms and reference of the working of the committee.
He said Minister for Law will be the secretary of the sub-committee while senators from Sindh and Balochistan will be the members of this committee.
Leader of House in the Upper House, Senator Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari expressed his willingness to form a committee to look into the matter and offered his full support in this regard. He however suggested that there should be proper terms and reference for proper working of the committee.
He said that the government is responsible to maintain law and order situation in the country and giving protection to its citizens including media persons. He said I already talked with the Chief Secretary Sindh to give security to media persons of a private tv channel and again ready to talk with Chief secretary Sindh and Balochistan in the presence of media representatives to given protection to the concerned media persons .
He apprised the House that media persons have called off their boycott from the press gallery of the parliament.
Earlier, speaking on law and order situation in Sindh and Balochistan, senator Ismail Buledhi said that there is need to from a committee to examine the situation and make recommendations for resolution of the problems. He condemned the misbehavior of police personnel with the media person who got footage of Kharot Abad incident.
He said due to majority in the senate the JUI-F has the right to have Leader of Opposition in the Senate and criticized the boycott of PML-N in the procedings of the parliament.
Speaking on the occasion Rehmatullah Kakar expressed concern on the overall security situation of the country and stressed the need for taking practical steps as verbal statements could not help improve the situation.
Terming the violence on a journalist and a doctor as unfortunate, Senator Afrasiab Khattak said that the journalists community must be assured that they would be given proper protection to carry out their professional duties.
He said that commissions should be constituted to conduct thorough inquiry into the incidents of Kharot abad firing and killing of an innocent youth at the hands of rangers and killing of Saleem Shahzad.
He said that if there are already commissions they should expedite work while commissions should be formed for other cases.
He said that ANP government inherited terrorism form the past government, however, with constant efforts, it eliminated the menace from the province, however the terrorists were still targeting it from nearby Tribal areas.
He said that the senate chairman should give a clear ruling to stop such incidents in the country that have been defaming its name. Meanwhile, leader of the opposition in the senate, Abdul Ghafoor Haidari held symbolic walk out on this unfortunate incident while urging the government to take practical steps for stopping such incidents in future.
Senators included Suriya Ameer-ur-Din, Tahir Hussain Mashadi, Shahid Akbar Bugti, Zahid Khan, Haji Ghulam Ali, Haji Lashkari and Babar Ghori expressed their concerns regarding law and order situation in Sindh and Balochistan and condemned the misbehavior of police personnel with media persons in Balochistan and demanded security for journaliststs.
Senators Seemi Siddiqui and Abdul Haseeb Khan spoke on electricity problem being faced by the citizens of Karachi and asked the management of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) to make proper planning for smooth supply of electricity.
Senator Khalid Soomro from JUI-F while speaking on the various aspects of the budget said that there is need to control on non-development budget. He said concrete steps should be taken to control inflation in the country
