US stocks start Friday in the red
NEW YORK : US stock markets opened in the red Friday, facing an uphill struggle to end the week with gains after losses

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 70.84 points (0.58 percent) at 12,053.52 in the first 15 minutes of trade.
The broader S&P 500 lost 7.33 points (0.57 percent) at 1,281.67, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite gave up 11.13 points (0.41 percent) at 2,673.74.
"The market has its work cut out for it if it is to close the week with a gain. Entering today's session, the S&P 500 is down 0.9 percent for the week," said Patrick O'Hare of Briefing.com.
