Administration arrests three profiteers, fines 113

KARACHI: In compliance to the directives of Karachi Commissioner, the assistant commissioners pertaining all districts raided different markets on Monday and arrested three profiteers besides imposing fine of Rs.1,45,600 on 119 retailers fleecing people under different pretext.

A spokesman of the divisional administration on Tuesday said the arrests made and fine imposed was in context of the ongoing campaign against profiteers, adulterators and hoarders of food goods in the city.

Those fined included nine flour millers, 27 chicken sellers, 21 grocers, 20 green grocers, nine fruit sellers, 33 milk sellers and three meat sellers for violating the officially approved price list for the mentioned items.

Areas where the raids were conducted were said to include Gulshan e Iqbal, Jamshed Quarters, Civil Lines, Liaqutabad, North Nazimabad, Landhi and Korangi.
