Talking to different delegations of people here, he said that 15pc increase in salaries of government employees and 20% in pension was a good step, and added this was an excellent and historic budget despite the limited resources.
"PPP led government has allocated a hefty amount of Rs 65 billion for poverty alleviation under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP); Rs 32.5 billion for the energy sector to overcome power shortage; and Rs 14 billion for Higher Education Commission", he highlighted.
Iqbal Warraich said the measures to include 700,000 people in the tax net have also been incorporated in this budget which has also proposed one percent reduction in GST.
He expressed with hope that the PPP-led government, which presented its fourth budget this year,would also present the fifth budget in 2012.
