Argentine soy prices track Chicago higher

BUENOS AIRES : Argentina closing soy prices and trends on Tuesday: * Soy prices in Rosario closed at 1,290 pes

* Soy prices in Rosario closed at 1,290 pesos to 1,310 pesos ($303-$307) per tonne, up from 1,283 pesos in the prior session as gains by US soy futures boosted local prices.

* Trade volume picked up to 10,000 tonnes after Monday's almost nonexistent business.

* US soybean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade closed higher in a short-covering bounce after Monday's sell-off, with a weak dollar and strength in soymeal lending support, traders said.

* Dockworkers and representatives of fertilizer producer Mosaic continued talks aimed at averting blockade protests at grains terminals in the Rosario area.

* In Rosario, soybeans for May 2012 delivery, traded at $320 per tonne. No prices were registered for the previous session.

* Soy in the southern port of Quequen rose 30 pesos to end at 1,290 pesos per tonne. In Bahia Blanca, the oilseed fell 2 pesos to 1,300 pesos.
