NA calls for strict action against accused of Karachi incident

The members were of the view that the barbaric act was a matter of shame for the country, parliament, public representatives and law enforcing institutions.

Most of the members were in favour of punishing the Rangers personnel in broad day light.

Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Central Leader Khawaja Saad Rafique demanded of the government to register a case against officials of Rangers under terrorism act for brutally killing a youngster in Karachi.

Speaking on a Point of Order, he also requested the Prime Minister to take note of the incident and the involved officials should be tried in anti-terrorist court and the case should be decided in 30 days.

He condemned the statement of Interior Minister after the incident and said the minister gave undue favour to the Rangers personnel, adding Rehman Malik should to seek apology over his statement.

Saad Rafique was of the view that DG Rangers Sindh should have to resign over the incident and the control of Sindh Rangers must be given to Karachi police.

He said the Rangers officials should properly be trained and educated before deploying them to big city.

The lawmakers cannot accept such act at any cost and the Rangers officials should be punished for this brutal act.

PML-N senior leader Makhdom Javed Hashmi strongly condemned the incident and said the life and property of each and every Pakistani was very important and respectable.

He said the government should take note of sensitivity of the mass over the issue and give strict punishment to the accused.

He warned that the sanctity of country's institutions could be sabotaged if the life of a Pakistani could not be honored and respected.

PML leader Sheikh Waqas Akram while condemning the incident said that it was second brutal act of the law enforcing agency after the Kharotabad incident.

He said the country was already passing through challenging situation and such acts by irresponsible personnel of law enforcing agencies were causing embarrassment for the country as well as the nation.

He expressed satisfaction that the Prime Minister himself took the notice of the matter, however, he urged that the culprits should be punished in public.

PPP leader Sumsam Bokhari said the incident was a matter of sham for the country and the parliament as well, adding that the statement of

Interior Minister was also inappropriate if he had defended the act of Rangers personnel.

He said it was matter of satisfaction that the Prime Minister has given the commitment that he would personally look into the matter.

Bokhari said that a divide is being created between the institutions and the masses and it is responsibility of the institutions to take it seriously as the country could not afford any 1971 like situation. He called for speedy justice to the relatives of the innocent youth.

Farrah Naz said that a sub commitment of Human Rights committee would look into Kharotabad incident as the committee was not satisfied with the investigation done there.

Haider Abbas Rizvi expressed pleasure that the parliament has condemned the incident across the board and showed it was concerned about the people of Pakistan. He strongly condemned the killing of the boy.

Akhunzada Chattan also condemned the incident and said that such incidents were happening in tribal areas on daily basis. Innocent people were being killed in drone attacks.

He revealed that chemicals were being used during the drone attacks that were causing fatal diseases in the areas.

He said that the discrimination should be removed and measures should be taken to stop drone attacks.

JUI-F leader Maulana Atta ur Rehman said we give respect to the statement of the Prime Minister over the incident and hope that strict action would be taken against the accused.

He said it was a welcoming step that parliament had unanimously raised voice over the unjust done by the Rangers personnel, adding that similar incidents were also happening in tribal areas and Balochistan that also needed attention of the parliament.

He was concerned about the statement of Interior Minister Rehman Malik over the incident and said that those statements should be avoided that hurt the feelings of the people.

He also urged that the Rangers personnel should be gun down in public as he had done with the innocent youth.

FATA parliamentarian Munir Khan Orakzai was also happy with the statement of the Prime Minister who had taken note of the incident and assured justice to the relatives of the deceased.

He also called for measures to stop drone attacks in tribal areas of the country and said that innocent people were being killed in FATA in drone attacks.

Dr. Attia Inyatullah while condemning the incident urged the Prime Minister to also look into Kharotabad incident and killing of a journalist Saleem Shehzad.-
