LSE holds awareness programme for new investors

LAHORE: Lahore Stock Exchange on Tuesday launched Investor Awareness Programme (IAP) by holding regular sessions of market information for the general and potential investors on monthly basis.

Under this programme, a session was organized for general public at the LSE to provide a medium to learn about the fresh perspectives on the market investments, besides providing means for the investors to access the latest market trends as well as information about the upgraded investors protection arrangements put in place at the market.

Addressing the session, Ms. Gitee Bhatti officer Corporate Communications elaborated the pros and cons of investing in different financial products. She also quoted practical examples about various investment avenues obtainable in the market and their role in the economic structure of the country. She also explained the fact that how diversification across various investment instruments safeguards the investors interest.

During the session, the facilities provided by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Central Depository Company (CDC) and National Clearing Company Limited (NCCPL) for the investors were also discussed in detailed.

On this occasion, the LSE Managing Director Aftab Ahmad Chaudhry stated that as a financial market, the LSE had a basic responsibility to invest in expanding the knowledge about our markets and increase the participation of investors in the market.

With running of two regular programmes, i.e. Campus Outreach Programme and Investor Awareness Programme, he said, the LSE shall fulfill the objectives of Corporate Social Responsibility of the Exchange.

He encouraged all potential investors to sign up for the programme and make it a regular practice to attend the planned monthly sessions to increase their knowledge about the capital markets.
