2,200 MW power shortfall recorded

ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall in the country eased to 2,200 MW as the total generation on Wednesday was recorded as 9,000 MW against the demand of 11,200 MW at 0930 hours.

According to daily data released by National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC), the hydel generation stood at 2,730 MW, Thermal 1,500 and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) 4,770 MW.

The hydel generation also improved as the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has increased water discharge from both water reservoirs, Tarbela and Mangla dams.

Meanwhile, supply of 350 MW from Pakgen power plant has been suspended to the national grid station due to boiler tube leakage.
