A powerful explosion rocked the Bab al-Aziziya district, not far from the city centre, at around 1:00 am (2300 GMT), followed by another a few minutes later.

It was the the fourth night in a row that this part of the city has been targeted with air strikes.

Earlier, the official news agency Jana said that civilian sites in the al-Qariet region south of the capital had been targeted in air raids.
