30 Dec, 2013

Talking to a delegation of Ulema, which called on him here at the Governor House Monday, the Governor said that foreign investment and other international affairs were affected due to the negative image.

He said the government could not meet the challenge of extremism alone as the role of Ulema was very important in this regard.

He appealed to the Ulema to play their role towards elimination of extremism and hatred between followers of various schools of thought and for promotion of religious harmony in the society.

He said that Islam was a religion of peace and "we all should practice and work for the promotion of the values of Islam."

The Governor said the Ulema had always played a positive role as and when required.

The delegation of ulema led by Tariq Mehmood assured the Governor of their full cooperation for promoting harmony and tolerance among the people.

The Governor on the occasion appreciated the role of Shaheed Sahabzada Fazal Kareem for promoting religious harmony and tolerance.
