PARIS: New passenger car sales fell 4.1 percent in April in the European Union, auto industry association ACEA said in a statement on Tuesday.

A total of 1,089,118 units were registered in April, a month with one fewer working days than April 2010, ACEA said, as all major markets except Germany posted declines.

In the first four months of the year sales grew in two-thirds of the markets but sales dips in the UK, Italy and Spain led to a 2.7 percent decline overall in the EU.
