Saima a shopper at Aabpara told APP that prices of same vegetable were different at each stall and there was no check on the prices.
Apple was being sold at different markets at Rs 120 per Kg however in I/10-4 its rate was only Rs 80 per Kg, said a shopper, Ali at G-6. Same as the price of potato varies from Rs 60 to Rs 80 per Kg and there is no proper check and balance system to check these violations, he added.
He said that ICT City administration prepares and issues the price list to the shopkeepers for displaying at a prominent place of the shop. However, the shopkeepers either put it at an invisible place or do not display it at all.
Babar Khan a shopkeeper said that the policy of imposing uniform price list in the city was impracticable and unrealistic and if it is followed, he would be running in loss.
He said that every shop had its own customer base and the authorities needed to understand that those who wanted very good quality products were willing to pay for it.
When contacted, CDA officials said the authority conducted daily price checking and the profiteers have been fined on the spot.
